The message of the last book I read for book clubs, Elsewhere, was enjoy what you have because you will never get it back. Liz died and then went to Elsewhere. She kept regretting missing out on things back on Earth like her best friend Zooeys' wedding. Eventually Liz learned to enjoy life on Elsewhere, with the help of her grandma Betty and Owen, because soon it would all be gone and she would be a baby again.
My favorite character in the book Elsewhere was Liz. She grew extremely as a character. At first she was mean and wanted nothing to do with anyone. She hated the fact that she was dead and she missed her family. She was rude to her grandma Betty but kept taking money from her to go to the observation deck. By the end of the story Liz became a better person as she fell in love with Owen but soon she was sent back down the river. Liz was a great character.
